Avalon Events Center History
The Avalon Events Center was
built in 1908, originally as the Stone Piano Company.
In the late 1920's Mr. Stone sold the business to his
son, Robert, and A.J. Daveau. In the 1940s Daveau
became the sole owner of the music store and changed the
name to the Daveau Music Company. Daveau then sold
the business to Schmitt Music whom retained ownership
until vacating in the 1990s. Over the next 10
years various entertainment sources and restaurants
would be located throughout the three floors of the
building. In 1999, the building underwent a $1 million renovation
to restore the building to its turn of the century
luster.
Original flooring, woodwork, and ceilings can be seen
throughout the building. The Avalon is now listed on the National Register of
Historic Places.
